Educate them together

Glasgow City Council are proposing to close 13 primary schools and 12 nurseries across the city.

In the city the council intend to close both the non denominational, Wyndford Primary and the denominational, St Gregory's Primary schools which currently operate side by side because of an absurd and outdated section of the Education ( Scotland ) Act 1980 which allows education departments to separate our children from the age of 5 years.

Parents from these schools have urged the Glasgow City Council to merge these schools and keep one of them open in their local community but the authorities have so far refused this request.

The Scottish Unionist Party believe that children should be educated together and we urge the Glasgow City Council to end take this opportunity to end religious apartheid in education by desegregating schools now.
